Purchased a Winchester M1 Carbine, now what?
Hi!
I’m super excited about my first M1
Carbine, but I’m wondering what type of mags I should use as it has some fitting problems with the current reproduction magazine.
Additionally, what do yall recommend for accessories such as slings or mag pouches? If so, should I get reproduction or original?

I'd only use original mags, they don't give problems. Things like "Promag", in the past I had nothing but problems with and scrapped them all. Original slings can be expensive for a nice one but you can get Vietnam issue slings for a bit cheaper maybe... Mag pouches are still around too, they made so many. Let us see a picture heavy of this carbine...?

Thank you! Where do you recommend finding original magazines?
Here’s a few pics, let me know what you think! I picked it up for $1200

I'm bring the pics here as the link may not last. There's some real expertise here that will come along shortly and have a look. I think it'll work fine. $1200USD? Not sure what they're worth in the US. Original mags, you could place a WTB here in forum and someone may have some in his pockets to sell you, pouches and sling too. Winchester 6588147...?

I bought a mag Pouch that came with 2 new repop mags. After a little fiddling with the feed lips they both function flawlessly, in fact betterthan the original mag that came with my carbine. No markings on them at all so can't say where they came from or who made them.
Listen I'm not trying to be an A$$ or anything but your reciever looks like it spent a significant amount of time under water. Are your raceways smooth or are they heavily pitted like the outside of the receiver? I would bring that to a gunsmith and have it diagnosed to be safe to shoot.

I was thinking a rusted outside and then a sandblast before refinish...but what caused the rust.

I’ve purchased a few items from Liberty Tree Collectors site. They have used USGI mags and post war carbine slings plus much more for M1
Carbines. Their pricing is pretty good and the quality of the items I purchased was very good for used items.
