Welded Receiver
Its hard to tell by the picture but i can tell you this much.I live by Gun Parts
and after Captain Crunch was done eating in the late 80s a lot of IHC & HRA parts and Wood came in.This tells me they cut up a lot of these receivers later sold for scrap if your could have seen the mountains of stocks and parts it would make you cry i would go every weekend and buy whatever i could afford i saw 1,000s of stocks go out the door.

you can't tell anything by the picture in question
and if you mean this particular picture, it is just as likely a stain. welded rifles (i.e. "re-welds" - the rifle was never welded to begin with, so "re-weld" doesn't make much sense) usually are not gonna be quite that easy to spot, but you never know for sure.
It would be nice to have a complete picture closeup of the side of the receiver, but this picture was most likely to display the cartouche and the seller has good feedback. No reason to call 911, but if I was selling and someone asked, I would have been happy to send another pic.

No your showing picture two, I made reference to picture one, look right above the middle of the clip latch. Looks like a weld seam in that picture, asked for better pictures and I haven't gotten them. The seller looks reputable, might be glare or bad photo, or maybe I'm hallucinating. I've been looking for an IHC, seen two rewelds on gunbroker lately, one represented as such, one wasn't. This one is probably more than I want to pay but they aren't getting cheaper, but if I don't get better photos I'm not going to chance it. The picture you show above is what I believe to be corrosion, you can see it a little in the first photo as well.
Never been grammatically, vernacularly, or spelling oriented so please don't hit me on weld/re-weld; I know forged, broached, machined, read the books.

I cannot tell from his crappy images that's for sure!
Email him again for images, good sellers always comply.

I would want more pictures but it does not look to have been cut and welded to me.

I agree with Joe W. It does not appear in either picture to be cut and welded to me, and I have one that had it done.

My paranoia alarm didn't go off when I saw the ad and his feedback, so I think it is probably not a welded receiver.
You are right, the IHC stuff if getting harder and harder to get. Seems like you can see other Garand
rifles (WRA and HRA) before you will ever see an IHC and then the IHC will be some dogged out piece that spent it's service life in rather difficult locales (read: hell!) and they are offering it as a prime example.
There may be some reason for this however. Several years ago someone suggested that IHC's were deliberately shipped overseas as the examples many armorers had run across were somewhat difficult to work on and tended to be out of spec more frequently than SA or HRA rifles. Whether this is true or not, I have not idea, as my rifle work has been almost exclusively SA and HRA with a smattering of WRA. My personal IHC is a good example with an LMR barrel and has not given me any trouble, but someone on the old Jouster
board used to complain about IHC and WRA being the troublesome ones to work on. So, maybe they did get shipped more frequently than others, but who knows for sure.
As for Gary's comments about Cap'n Crunch, the Gun Parts people got the bulk of salvage as I understand it and sold them by the truckload. One former buyer there said they saw late war cartouched stocks in unissued condition come through as discard from the Clinton era dismantling of the military in the 90's. As an aside to this, Nobama said yesterday in his "PayGo" speech that the military and military research would take the hit to reduce the budget to help out Wall Street and the poor bankrupt bankers and the "won't work" crowd. Guess we are in for another round of cuts until North Korea bombs Tokyo or Iran puts one in downtown Tel Aviv.
