Springfield 1922 M1/M2?
A friends son inherited this rifle and I would like to provide the lad with more information.
Very nice condition and appears early based on the SN.
Based on the photos I cannot tell if M1
or M2. The receiver marked M1 but the Cocking nob appears to be an M2. I have inquired about the barrel date.
Any input welcome. I am trying to encourage his interest in the hobby.

It looks like a M1
that’s been upgraded to a M2. They stamped a 1 right of the MI when the upgrade was done.
Nice rifle, these are excellent shooters and worth more than most people think.

Paid $1,200 for a near-mint M2 20 years ago and was glad to get it

I wish I could buy this one but take solace this young man appreciates it and will be a good steward for much longer than I will be around.
