Most sought after Garand?
This topic has probably been beaten to death, which is one of the reasons hat I am posting this question here in ' Gun Talk '. But if you guys would be kind enough to humour me could you tell me which Garands you feel are the most collectable?
Thanks,
KTK

Well the one Audie Murphy used would be a start!

John, I wasn't referring to value being placed because of previous owners. I was reading the Big 5 thread but left off after a couple of posts as any Big 5 sporting goods store I've been in did not impress me with thier guns.
I'm kind of wondering what to buy next, I have a Win. 13 and I like shooting it.
Thanks,
KTK

Any gas trap for me or an early no trap Winchester.

An "unaccounted for" gas-trap is in the same order as the "unaccounted for" Pederson Device, or a P&W Enfield...I just don't think the average guy is going to find one. Other than the obvious stuff, like an IH or a late H&R...I don't think "pedigree" has as much influence on Garand
value as condition or completeness. A good, nearly complete SA would be worth more than "Run hard and put away wet" POS that just happens to have a Winchester receiver and very little else going for it.
Just one opinion....I shoot Garands, I collect something else!

I've got that one! The guy at the Baltimore show assured me that Audie had personally presented his father with it as a token of friendship. He had a couple of Hitlers PPK pistols too, but I had to make rent that month.

Probably the M1
that Lee Harvey Oswald qualified with, and/or JFKs personal M1.
