Inland Stock
Hi all, I am new here but have been collecting various types for many years.
My problem is that I have come into possession of a 4 digit Inland. It is all correct except for stock. It has a light colored high wood I cut stock.
The problem is the sling well is numbered with non-matching #s. No flaming bomb or other IDs. Also the hand guard is a Irwin Peterson with a flaming bomb stamp. I suspect that the stock and HG have been changed out at some time. Or has anyone run up with the same situation? Should I look for a correct stock? (probably impossible to find)
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
TIA, Best regards, DVS.

The IP handguard will go a ways toward the correct stock and hand guard. The 'correct' stock for your Inland will depend on if it is original as-manufactured or if it has later parts on it. If its a rebuild, the stock on it would be 'correct' if its a USGI stock. Early stocks are available, its just a matter of money.
BTW, there should be no 'matching numbers' anywhere on the carbine or stock.

Thanks for the reply. The carbine appears to have all the original parts. At least as far as the Riesch, Poyer and Duff books indicate. According to them, the stock should have a OI, O, AI plus flaming bomb. Out of all my carbines, this one is a mutant. I would like to put a "correct" stock on it because of its low # but the original owner claims it came that way. I call BS on his claim.

Pics
I will get some pics up asap. The more I delve into this rifle, the more it seems to be a rebuild to pass off as a original. Still, it is a 4 digit Inland. Also the fact that a "friend" dropped it and dinged the muzzle is giving me doubts about purchasing it. I seem to get the odd ball weapons. I will post a pic or two of my mis-stamped "Mith Corona" 03A3 in the 03 site. Thanks for your time, DVS.

Given how much the aforementioned stock just sold on Gunbroker, how much would a highwood stock, I-cul oiler slot, with OI, Obnance Bomb, and Ordnance Wheel in the sling well go for? No other marks such as P, cartouche on right, rebuild, etc.; not cut-down.
(Not saying I have one or not, but there may be pictures in another thread at a later date; I don't want to hijack thread).

Hard to say, but it could go just as high.

The early inland stock on the gunbroker auction, does it look like it has been sanded? The butt plate to me looks like it overhangs quite a bit. I thought the wood should be "proud" of the buttplate.
