Revolver...I know it's slightly OT but the the other forum seems to be all Non -US Handguns.
Anyway US Model 1917 ARMY 45 Cal with lanyard Ring. Serial # 161223 with the Butt marked as such forward od lanyard ring.
Aft of the lanyard ring is stamped No 9922 (Staggered as follows)
No
9
922
Blueing appears slightly "dull" - Not a high polish blue. Does not appear to have been refinished.
Grips are "Checkered" and I've been told they should be smooth. The grips otherwise appear original to the gun.
My questions are when was it made - issued to the US Army - and are the grips possibly original with the checkering or are they aftermarket/civilian.
