Enfield Enforcer 395 range report

I had a chance to take my new acquisition out for a test run the other day, and I am pleased with how it handled. The rifle is an Enfield Enforcer, which is a UK police sniper rifle from the 70's and 80's. Enforcers also ended up in other places around the world, such as Hong Kong. There are not many of these rifles left as the police forces often destroyed them instead of allowing them to get into the hands of civilians. I have heard estimates of between 170 and 380 Enforcers still in existence, out of about 500 that were originally issued to police forces. My rifle is #395, which was issued to the Derbyshire police force in the early 70's.

The day at the range way sunny and calm, with a little wind later in the afternoon, probably gusting up to 10-15mph, and a temperature of 66 degrees F. I was shooting out to 200 yards from a sitting position left-handed, with the fore-end resting on a sandbag. The scope is a Pecar 4-10x45 (original to the rifle). The covered over holes just to the right of the bull were from me having a go at 100 yards with the Parker Hale PH5E/4 aperture sight, and the rest of the stickers are covering over holes from some play time I had with my No.4 Mk.1 at 300 yards (I get alot of use out of targets - I am a cheap bugger lol). The grouping low and right is 2" (it was 1 inch until I bloody flinched with the 5th shot lol), and the grouping directly below the bull was also 2" (the 3rd shot went wild this time). With a little effort on my part, I will probably be able to shoot 1/2 MOA with this rifle, and I am not complaining about that! I will get round to properly zeroing the rifle in at 200 yards, then try it out to to 800 yards.
