production..SN#274609. Barrel is replacement S-A -5-52. Right front leg is D28291-3 SA and also REP11. Lock bar sights. Op rod is uncut D358382 9 SA. Bolt is March 45..D28287-19 SA A-8. Trigger assembly is D28290-14-SA, Hammer is C46008-7 SA, early gas plug, stock is (P), boxed SA over GAW and crossed cannons cartouche..also a small ordnace wheel under pistol grip.. all matching walnut. I had to slap the butt stock to get the action to release..very tight.. The crown and bore are excellent...crude bullet test shows little ME. There is a tool and oiler tube with pull through in the butt stock. The interesting thing is it is an early Century Import..with the lightly EP'ed info on the left side of receiver. I have seen a few of these early Century imports and most have the lock bar sights. I have also seen some that have a slight haze where the lightly EP'ed markings have been removed. Now if I say that the condition of this Garand is almost excellent it might cause some conjecture..I will post pics later and you may decide for your self. I won't hold it against this one for the import markings..it is just history now. Any one know where these early Century imports came from?
