Six U.S. WWII guns – manufactured in 1942 and 1943.

I have posted stuff on these guns at various points in the past…but I decided to lump them all together….I am not sure whether this is the best place to do this?

1942 Manufactured;

Thompson submachine gun U.S Model of 1928A1.
Serial number S 432702, manufactured January or February 1942 by Savage.


M1A1 carbine, serial number 123829, barrel dated 12-42, manufactured by Inland.






Ordnance Department’s ‘Flaming Bomb’ acceptance stamp, “RLB” (Col. Roy L. Bowlin was the A.I.O. Ordnance inspector, once the inspectors stamp was stamped on a gun, it became government property),
“GEG” in a circle ( GEG is for George E. Goll, the AO civilian inspector and former driver for General John T. Thompson)

M1911A1 Colt pistol, delivered to Springfield Arsenal on June 25th 1942, serial number 725826
W.B. inspected.
Inspector’s stamp W.B. (Waldemar Broberg Col. US Army)
WB was stamped on Colt 1911A1 pistols in the 753,000 serial number range to about 865,000.

M1 rifle, Springfield Armory manufactured, serial number 1722249, EMcF. inspected.

Inspectors cartouche : SA over EMcF with crossed cannons escutcheon.
EMcF. is for” Col. Earl McFarland” Commanding Officer of Springfield Armory circa June1942 to July 1943.















M1 carbine, Inland manufactured, serial number 4882099, barrel dated 12-43.
