Hi all,
I just joined this fine site and see there are many knowledgeable collectors here. My question is about my 1916 Colt Government Model. As I am sure most of you know the "Commercial" was used extensively in the military here in Canadaicon and overseas. The markings on the front strap are identical to the borrowed photo you see here. From the top they consist of a crown over G4 over A over a broad arrow over a three pointed star. There is an obvious connection to Englandicon but I'm trying to get it nailed down tighter. If it had gone to Canada there would likely be a C connected to the broad arrow. The two other photos are of my own pistol. What I know is that the pistol is likely from the same shipment that went to England through banker JP Morgan who acted as a procurement official/exporter during WW1. Any help much appreciated and I'm glad I found this site.
