Several weeks ago some friends called me on a Sunday morning and said they were headed to Perry and did I want to go. Since I was the one that started that conversation around April I felt obligated to escort them in their adventure. First we hit Commercial Row where I obtained a couple of 10 round mags for my XD-45 from the nice folks at Springfield and a couple bricks of small pistol primers at another store. Then we headed to the North Store. Now I already have a CMPSmith Corona 03A3 and a CMP Inland carbine but I was dissatisfied at the time with the M1
's. Ah but this time as I was looking at the rack and field grades I turned and saw this very nice rifle in the service rack. Beatuiful wood and I mean pristine wood (stamped CMP on the bottom) the tag said muzzle 1 throat 2. It was an H&R 5 million number with a 55 barrel. It followed me home. It shoots real good too. The first time I took it out for a walk the only range open was the 200 yard range. It took a clip to pretty much dial it in but I was keeping most of them inside a 12" target. Not to bad for an old blind man that was 4 when this rifle was built.
