Making a Rifled Barrel

Regarding some of the info on another thread, thought i,d post these links regarding the making of a barrel, the first link is an article written by Geoff Kolbe from Border Barrels, the interesting thing here shows an old, Pratt and Whitney Sine bar rifling machine built in 1895, another article (on the Border Web site) shows an old, Archdale deep hole drilling machine.

I was offered a deep hole drilling machine last year from a company who makes aircraft components,they were scraping a lot of machinery and this was on the list, but they decided to keep it in the end after they realised there mistake, it was supposed to be moved and not sold off, am sure this was a Pratt and whitney machine that would drill and also ream ? I was also short of the £25,000 they were asking if they did decide to sell.

After looking on the internet I stumbled on this (see link), and for anyone who has an interest in machines and engineering then i would sugest buying this dvd regarding making a, all in one Deep hole drilling, reaming and rifle cutting machine. comes with instructions and drawings of the machine.

Not the kind of thing i would normally buy and it turned out expensive ( it was a lot cheaper than the price shown in this link) in the end with added postage and vat etc, but i found it excellent.
