Great progress Joel!
That is turning out very nicely. You are doing excellent work, and seeing how one can devise very effective methods with very simple means to get very good results.
I cannot do Part 5 until Thursday, as I have to give a lecture on Oxford and my old college on Wednesday. As I hoped from the start, this rifle is turning into something where you would have kicked yourself if you passed it up and saw what it turned into. Part 5 will be woodwork, deliberately leaving any rebluing and recrowning to the end, as if the woodwork turns out well, you are going to want to save up for some 43 cases and get acquainted with the art of reloading.
In this connection: Did you find a club with other BPCR shooters? Did you get a few old 3.5" diskettes yet? And could you identify the white stuff - mold, paint... what was it? I would like to know as it may influence how we deal with the wood.
And finally:
DO NOT USE ANY WATER OR AQEUOUS SUBSTANCES ON THAT WOOD.
In fact, until you see Part 5, leave it strictly alone apart from brushing of the muck.
NO SANDING![]()
That rifle is not going to end as a wallhanger. Keep up the good work!
