    early trigger housing rebuilds

Attachment 18140Attachment 18141Both the D 28290 and D 28290 SA Springfield trgger housings had the large pad reduced in size during rebuild (the early Winchester also had the large pad too), this being done to the trigger housing to accept the new revision 6 "round top" safety. The majority of these modified Springfield trigger housings never had a rebuild marking and finding one is worth a photo. All of the D 28290-1-SA housings had the small pad. Note that the -1SA is handstamped. The studs on the trigger guard appear to have been resized.
