I recently purchased a Russianicon SKS from Markdale gunshop. While it was in the safe for a period of two weeks it developed a crack on the forestock which was progressing further down the length of it as days went by. I took the carbine to the shop and the proprietor said to fix it myself! There were no marks on the rifle. No other gun came back this way. I think the crack developed from temperature change. But any way he wouldn't do any thing for me. I find out too, that a Chinese stock won't fit. So, am thinking of purchasing a fiber stock..not folding, and was wondering which one would be the best? While at a gunshow in Orangeville I saw another Russian SKS with the same crack starting at the same place. Left side front. Maybe it was from installing the metal to wood and caused a split to start?
