I have Rock-ola 45501XX. It has an I.R.Co Type III Adjustable stamped rear sight. According to Riesch, this would not be correct until #6.2 mil.
That said, I just got my copy of War Baby. On pg. 399, Ruth says, " Rear Sight, Type F (windage-adjustable, stamped) ...I.R. Co...begun in second SN block and used through last SN block to end of production." my carbine IS in the second block (4532100 - 4632099).
I find it unusual as Ruth also says that Type A flip sights were still in use in the third and fourth blocks of production. Is it so that Rock-ola mixed in adjustable sights before discontinuing flip sights? I know that often newer parts went to the top of the parts bins. Or, is this an error in War Baby. I always "assumed" my Type III sights were added during post war rebuild.
Thanks for any input.Information
