L1A1 Single Shot "UK" spec?? Any ideas?

Was chatting to a guy at Bisley on Sunday - he is selling .22RF semi-auto (SORRY!! "self-loading") L1A1 replicas by Imbel.

    Got me thinking.....

Does anybody know if there has ever been a modification to make the FN originals into single shot straight-pull type rifles for the UKicon market?

I'm not that familiar with the L1A1 mechanism so don't even know if it would be possible.

There are a number of UK guys making a UK spec M16icon/AR15 type rifle with varying degrees of success. They remove the gas tube and use barrels that are not drilled for the gas port, then either use the standard charging handle as the main method for cycling the bolt or solutions to provide RH side charging with modified bolts.

Thanks in advance for any information.
