    No1 Forend repair

Hi All, here's a little repair that I did on a mates rifle. Someone tried to remove the butt without removing the forend. If it were mine I wouldn't have bothered, but he was worried it would split further, so...
Anyway I didn't want to remove the brass thread wire as it always causes some local damage at the exit point. So I kerfed the split with a gents saw, around the brass thread wire, and fitted a new patch of similar wood to the kerf slot, and other little bit with a cutout so it could slide in and fit around the brass thread wire.
The patch is a tight fit.
I glued it in with epoxy and glue powder shop mix, gel consistency.
When it went off, I did some final shaping.
It should do the job I think.
