You are correct, they are the standard cloth bandoliers issued to and used by all Britishicon and Commonwealth troops during the No.4 era. True, some leather bandoliers may have been used on occasion in WW2, maybe some rare South African cavalry units at home in SA, but they did not see combat use during WW2 or the remainder of "the No.4 era.".
I have in my collection a five pocket leather bandolier marked U Broad Arrow (South Africa) and dated 1942.
