so today I received the rifle ans yes the sight IS marked HWC for Herbert cooey. it is also marked with the canadian arsenals C with the A inside it. The barrel is NOT sleeved, and is stamped with the BSA insignia, plus ".22LR" and has been proofed at 8 tons and is stamped thusly. it has also been numbered to the rifle. Receiver is stamped on the buttsocket "1955 .22 No.2" I ran a patch through and initially it came out with some cosmolineand thereafter absolutely clean patches came out the next few times. I would be very surprised if this has been fired much at all. Must have been converted at BSA for commercial use in 1955 having been FTR'd in 1954.
