Cool Columbian-Madsen: Not Impressive Range Report

This bit of exquisite Danishicon craftmanship is all matching, unissued, absolute mint condition; never fired until I got it. (I also have its sequentially serial-numbered twin, with matching bayonet, which will remain unfired.)

Shame on me twice: First for not taking the gun out to the range sooner, and second, for not using better ammo for its first time out. My only excuse is that I wanted to use up this POS ammo so I can reload the nice LC brass with some more accurate components.

On the target below, I had already shot 6 or 7 rounds before putting up the shoot-n-see. Those initial rounds were all over the paper, as I adjusted the elevation and windage, and established a consistent sight picture. (Yes, this bizarre rifle made in 1958 for the Columbian navy actually has a functional rear-sight windage adjustment, funky though it is). Then I shot my last five rounds and, miraculously, four of them ended up in the shoot-n-see! The missing round is way down at seven o'clock, a couple inches from the 8-ring.

Now I am inspired to get back out there with some better ammo (LC, HXP, or my own reloads) and see what the little Dane can really do.
PS: I did not shoot with the bayonet installed.
Interesting note: The bayonet s/n matches the rifle.
