Gentlemen, a few days ago, I posted some pics of a FinnishM91 I recently purchased. This rifle is built on an Izhevsk receiver dated 1900. Today I was giving it a good going over, and saw a marking that I had previously missed. It looks, to me at least, like a possible Japanese
marking. As the Russo-Japanese War began in 1904, would it be possible that this rifle, when in original configuration, was captured by the Japanese, and then made it to Finland by some untold means? There are also the remnants of another marking below the Imperial Eagle that I cannot make out. It appears to have been scrubbed. I dont know how well it shows up in the pic. Would love to hear some opinions!
