I have just come to own a Remington UMC 1911 serial #3989 that I belive was made in 1918. the gun appears to be all origina and the man I got it from, whom I have known for 19 yrs saic it was his grandfathers gun in WW1 and has been in his family for all of its history. He is now writing all of its history down for me and will give it to me soon. That being said I know a fair amount about guns and have collected for many years, but I do not know much about this rare piece. Can anyone give me any hints what to look for?
