A friend of mine at work told me the other day that his Dad has a "sniper" rifle. I asked him about it and of course neither him or his Dad know anything about it other than he bought it at a farm auction years ago and it was said tht it is was a sniper rifle. I got him to take some pictures of it with his cellphone last night and here it is. I am trying to work a deal with the old man so I can buy it(we've been friends a long time)but I need to know what it really is. It is US Property marked but he forgot to take a pictue of that. I could not get my computer to find the pictures when I downloaded them from my email so all I could do was take a picture of the image on my computer monitor, that's why they suck so bad. I don't remember ever seeing a Weaver 330 on a model 70 Winchester. I think it says STITH on the rear mount.
I got the rifle last night and took some better photos. It turns out it is NOT US Property marked, guys son thought 30GOVT06 meant US Property. It turns out is is nothing more than an old model 70 made in 1938.Information
