just bought a Long Branch N4 MkI*, serial number 39L6130, manufactured in 1943. Carved upper handguard and steel buttstock, Mk III sight. No markings on the wooden parts. Magazine serial number doesn't match with the rifle's one. Magazine is black painted and the serial number is written by an "electric pen", not marked, "BB84814"
Bought in Italy, I know that it comes from an armory in Republic of San Marino. For sure it has been purchased in Germany
, as on the receiver it has been stamped the name of the importer (HEGE) and the bayonet lugs on the barrel have been removed (
) due to a matter of "de-militarizing" method used in that Country until a few years ago.
