Hi, I'm fairly new to the forum and I know little of Mausers especially a Chileanicon Mauser. But In the late 1970's, while I was on active duty in the Marine Corps a buddy of mine owed me money and could not pay, so he gave me this rifle as payment. It had been sporterized and is pretty ugly( he only owed me $50.00), but one thing struck me on this rifle. It has a separate serial # with a Star of David under it. I thought maybe it was used in the 1948 Israeli War for independence, but that is just a wild guess. Sorry, one of these pics is upside down. I would really appreciate any thoughts from the experts. Thank You.
