I don't know the story behind the bayonet but I do know I remember it in the house since I was a kid so I know its looked the same for 40+ years. The The Britishicon chrome bayonets for the Enfield are tip to end and this one has chrome spike and the housing that attaches to lug has some black pain left on it. I'm guessing its a parade item.

I found a close copy on the net and it makes sense. It was made at the Long Branch factory.
