This is an interesting carbine. 5.4 block, all inland parts except a worn out late Winchester buttplate. Stock is HI matching handguard. Using CC # 361 excellent Chris Albright article, everything is as it should be. Supposedly Grand Pa's bring back? More likely an NRA sale gun from the 60's. The stock shows liberal sanding and dings from use. The barrel shadow and sandblast line as expected for original finish. All upgrades, type 2 band, Type 2 rear sight and 4 rivet handguard as normal in this block. Original 8-44 barrel has perfect rifling and using the M2 bullet test is probably a 1.5. When cleaning this up, the bolt and trigger assemblies were all covered in what looked like a dip preservative which had thickened into an almost tar consistency. Both look as if they had never been taken apart. Round bolt has some finish issues almost like a chemical reaction, some use wear at the rear of the bolt. So we have what could be an original configuration carbine with a worn out not at all matching Win buttplate. I guess that is a blessing since if this was a corrected carbine this would not still be on the gun. I haven't shot it yet, but anticipate it being a god shooter. The handguard is funny in that it is so fat at the rear that it obscures the view through the peep sight at the bottom. All in all, I am very impressed with the overall fit and finish of Inland. It is better than my Winchester. More photos later.
