Hi all, name's Kevin and I am located in Sedalia, MO. Found this site on a whim while looking up some info on SKS's. Very glad there is a nice M1/M14icon forum here as well as SKS, since I own both.

My M1 is a 1955 made, 5.8-mil s/n range Springfield that is a field grade I ordered from CMPicon on 25 Feb 2013 and received 10 June 2013. Great rifle and I love it to death. Always wanted a CMP M1 and finally jumped at one. I used to have one of the SA Inc. "reproduction" M1's a few years ago, but didn't really like it...the appeal of an old USGI rifle with some scars to prove where she's been appeals to me a lot more. The only thing I had to have corrected on it was a replacement barrel, which CMP took care of for free. The old barrel wasn't shot out, but the gas cylinder lock threads on it were nearly flat and the rifle would fail to cycle due to the gas cylinder moving closer to the end of the barrel with each shot, blocking the gas port. It now has a 1952 SA barrel that gauges out almost new.

My SKS is a Norinco marked Chinese model. Nothing fancy. Has the fixed mag and spike bayonet. I picked it up for $225 a week ago, it has some minor rust spots here and there and the stock was cracked, so I glued it up and hope it will be ok...but if not, I can throw another stock on it and still be ahead.

Also have a Chinese Type 53 that was also made in 1955, March to be exact (should be close to when my M1 was made...maybe they were both made in March). Typical Type 53 with heavily worn wood that I did my best on with some BLOicon but nice metal and a good bore. Shoots very nice and turns heads at the range...guess no one expected an Abrams to show up.

Sorry for the long intro but there ya have it...I look forward to playing around on here and learning more about my guns!
