I pack 296 rounds of ammo en bloc in my .30 cal. ammo cans. Here is how it fits. First and second rows are packed vertically on edge (like they are loaded in the rifle) with 11 en blocs each, packed in alternating directions. On top of those stack 3 rows of alternating direction en blocs horizontally (lying down). The first two rows contain 88 rounds each or 176 rounds. The top three rows contain 40 rounds each for a total of 120 rounds. 296 rounds all together with room for desiccant, etc.. You will need 37 en blocs per can. [Too tight for bandoliers with this much ammunition.]
