    There were hundreds of these in various states of destruction as hard targets on Salisbury Plain. We used one to film a Boys rifle against. Most suprised that they were just mild steel and while they'd probably slow down a 7.62, they didn't stop the .55" and it went straight through - both sides!
    I can't understand the 08AA65 number on that Ferret. This post war number sequence only started with BA onwards with 00BA01. The RAF had the AA, AB, AC serial numbers but don't remember them having Ferrets

    You asked how they managed off road. Not bad but in any sort of mud over 18" - 24" they were totally crap. They'd bottom out and sort of 'float'. A Bedford was better and usually had to haul the ferret out. If you were in big trouble, or deep sxxx, then it was an ARV job due to the sheer weight
