I've run across a nice looking Remington M1903A3. It is in a "scant" stock. The stock is marked on the left hand side with: RA, Ordnance wheel/crossed cannons, and a boxed FJA. There is a much fainter Circle P firing proof on what little pistol grip there is. The is a random smattering of unboxed capitol letters (maybe 1/8 inch) in front of the trigger housing: A, H, P, etc.

Because 1) the stock is very nice and smooth, 2) the circle P is faint (sanding?), 3) the RA, FJA and ord wheel are crisp, and 4) I've not seen unboxed inspector marks before - I am inclinded to believe that the markings (most or all) are after the fact "Bubba" value enhancments.

The serial number is 39706XX and the barrel is an RA 8-43.

Don't see many scant stocks so I don't know if this is typical or not? What say you gentlemen?
