hello, i am new to your community, but not to guns. i am trying to research a colt 1911 that my grandfather gave me. he carried it in WW1 as well as WW2. he was a commander in the navy seabee's and was in the south pacific in WW2. it seems to be all original, with no armory rebuild markings. i have his 1911, 2 or 3 clips and the holster. i believe the pistol was made in 1918 and it is a colt. the finish is mostly worn, and it has bakelite grips.Information
