I bought an Enfield from a guy yesterday. It does not seem to look a lot like the pictures. I don't know how to post photos here, so let me give you a tour, from the rear to the front.

The butt plate is brass (or looks brass).
The wood appears to have been refinished. There are no ribs on the top. there are no markings on the rear stock. The lower front stock as an 'F' stamped in it and in another place, and 'F 49'. There are no other marks on the wood.

The magazine has what looks like an attachment point for a chain on the mounting plate. On one side is an 'S' and on the other side is a '>'.

The receiver has the bolt release button one would expect on a MK1. On the left side of the receiver it says "N-4.MK1". On the strap holding the trigger group it says "m.1944 Englandicon and 19340" At the very top is a stamp that looks like "30" or "50". Part of the 1st character is missing.

The site is the 300/600 style. In the top groove of the bolt is stamped "Y A K". The bolt handle is stamped "19340". The at the end of the bolt, that turns, is stamped with a "2", the side looks like it is stamped with an "8".

It has a lug at the end of the barrel for a bayonet. The barrel looks good and the rifling is in good shape. The owner said he has shot it and it fires fine (no head space issues).

Other than that, I see nothing. The mechanisms all seem to operate smoothly.

So, do I have mish-mash here? I paid $275 for it. Probably more than it's worth, but it looked good.

Thoughts?
