Russian Capture k98, info and considering refinish

Hey everyone, been a while since I've posted but I'd like to ask everyone a question about a Russian capture I picked up a while ago for a good price. All I know is that the gun was made in Steyr Austria in 1941. From what I can tell there are no X marks and the Nazi marks are not peened. I am curious if there are any more interesting details about this rifle? I am also considering refinishing the gun to replicate the original finish. What was the original finish for a laminated stock for this year at the Steyr plant? I've already picked up a new sight hood and cleaning rod as well as a repro sling.
