I don't collect bayonets or swords; primarily I collect (and buy, sell, trade) custom made knives. Last Thursday my wife and I were traveling from Michigan to Cambridge, OH for a Custom Knife Show; we stopped at an Antique Mall just north of the Michigan - Ohio line. Looking around I found a sword in scabbard that I took a chance with, mainly because I liked how it looks and who made it.
Here's what I do know about the sword; the blade is marked (three lines) with the J. A. Henckels "Twin's Logo; J. A. HENCKELS; and Zwillingswerk. From my on-line research it appears to be a Dove's Head NCO Sword made sometime between WWI and before the NAZI Party started marking everything with a swastika. The paint on the scabbard appears to be original as well - it doesn't look like its been sprayed at all. Here's some photos of it; if anyone has more information or an idea of value I would appreciate it.
I had the sword on display at the knife show; it photo 3 that's a sticker that said NFS; I forgot to remove it before I took the photo.Information
