I recently picked up a Type 99, Toyo Kogyo, series 31 rifle. Serial number XX258. All the numbers matched on the bolt, safety knob, dust cover and firing pin. It also has the AA wings on the rear sight and has the monpod. The mum is present but lightly scratched. As I was cleaning the rifle I noticed that the barrel was stamped with the number 860. Also there is no number on the front barrel band. So my question is, was this rifle rebarreled my the Japaneseicon military or was it done at a later dare? The rifle is in excellent condition other than having the stock sanded and cut (duffle bag) so for $180 I couldn't say no. Any infornation you guys can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.
