I've read in Lapins book on Mosin Nagants, the type one receiver was replaced by the type two round style in 1930. I realize they would run out what was on hand before going to the new style. I've bought two rifles that I figure were good examples of this transition, both Tula, un-molested, very good over all condition, the Hex is dated 1933 as is the round receiver. I'd like to know how far these two types can be found, i.e. how late is your hex or how early is your round and who made them. I also have both examples of the Issy but the dates their are mid production examples. Maybe someday I chase them down as well, many thanks-SDH
