I am the proud new owner of a Yugoicon M48 8mm Mauser. The bolt, and barrel have matching serial numbers and the rifling is in superb condition. I have taken it to the range and using the standard military sights started shooting at 50 yards. After learning the sights of the rifle and getting 3/4" to 1" groupings I moved to the 100' range. My first two shots were a bit high, so after more careful positioning I was able to start getting a consistent 1" to 2" pattern. So, it appears that I have managed to acquire a really great rifle. Because I forgot my information for first registering with this website, I had to start over and re-register. I will most definitely not alter the originality of this rifle in any way. But, I would like to be able to have a scope for deer hunting.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this rifle being used as a sniper rifle, or any of it's predecessors? After doing some research I have found a scope mounting system that does not require any alterations to the originality of the rifle. What I want to know is what is available as far as long-eye-relief scopes, what the Yugo's used for adding scopes etc.
