I bought a no.1 mk3* at a flea market yesterday, I tried a commercial 410 shell but it would not fit then I tried a fired .303 case and it fit. Does that mean it is still for the Britt. 410 round and if so would it be more of a collector piece than if it had been reamed to commercial 410 round? The gun still has cosmolineicon all over it. It is marked ENFIELD 1917, Sht LE III*, on the left side it is marked 410, RFI 1935. Could this gun have been in storage all this time? All the numbers match and the bore is in excellent condition. On the trigger guard there is an aluminum strip with number stamped on it. Is that an import number? There is no import stamp anywhere on the gun that I can find.
Can rounds still be found that will fit?
Any information or opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Howard
