Re-use of the M17 arm repair chest for the 1903 Springfield

I have heard that the Arm Repair Chest M17 was re-used for the 1903 Springfield and some examples have the original M17 stencils under the repaint when they were repurposed. What other changes were made to the chest, such as internal layout or labelling changes?

BTW i'm in the market for a Arm Repair Chest now my Arms Shipping Chest is finished, though not full!
