My daughters boss wants to buy a correct WW2 M1icon Garand in excellent condition. What advice do members have locating one and validating it's authenticity. If not a scarce model or maker, what's the ball park retail on one.

The man who wants to buy an M1 is a lawyer and inherited a collection of Germanicon guns from his grandfather "who blew the safe at the Mauser mansion" during WW2. His grandfather was in Army intelligence. The guns I've seen so far are a mint C96 complete with shoulder holster, a mint Luger and a mint Mauser HSC. I am waiting for an invite to his house to see the rest of the bring backs.

My point is just that he is a fairly discriminating collector who can afford a good correct M1. But I'm not thinking gun shows in rural MN is likely to turn up too many options. Any advice on how to pursue this and a range of what to expect to spend?
