The current Performance Specification for Cleaning Compound, Solvent (for bore of small arms and automatic aircarft weapons), MIL-PRF-372D says it "covers one type of bore cleaner use in the removal of primer salts....". Does this mean that the 55 gallon drum that my son brought back from "The Sandbox" will do a job on the stuff left behind after I shoot all that corrosive 8 mm Mauser I have? The specification does not say what is to go into the "solvent" nor does it mention anything about testing for salt removal. Any input.
