Canadian C7 & American M16A2

The C7 has the same 1/12 twist, light weight "pencil" barrel of the AR15/M16/M16A1. The beauty of which is that it'll perform with both the 55 grain M193 as well as 62 grain M855 ammo. The fast twist 1/7 barrels will not perform with the 55 grain M193 projectile. It also has a brass deflector in the upper receiver forging. Did the lower receivers of the early Diemaco C7 rifles have the reinforced lower receiver where the buffer tube screws in? ...snip...

C7 rifle barrels were always 1/7 " M16A2 contour - tapering to approx .625" under the hand-guards, .750" at the gas block journal/port and forward to the flash hider.

The CF demanded a HB, heavier than a Colt HBAR from what I understand, but Colt (wisely) refused to allow it.

The lower receiver was always M16A2 with Safe, Repeat, Auto, (no burst feature). They have the reinforced front pivots and receiver extension.

In effect, a C7 was an M16A2 with M16A1 shell deflector carry handle rear sight. I'm told that originally it used the M16A2 square front sight which was quickly changed to the M16A1 style round post.
