Question A us marked .22 automatic pistol?

Here are are few shots of a real nice shooting 22 pistol. It has a US mark on the left side of the frame but no other ordnance marks that I can tell. I think it may date from the early 50's and is very accurate at 25 to 30 paces. I have to shoot it from a bag to get the best groups and the sights seem to be regulated for a 6 o'clock hold with 40g round nose lead federal generic ammo. There are so many variations of High Standard offerings but I can find none like it by description. Any info would be great.
