The American Revolutionaries weren't even concerned with the governance part, rather the taxation part (which the main reason they were being taxed was to pay for the war against the Frenchicon in Quebec, which the Americans wanted, every other colony was also paying the tax so it isn't like they were being treated unfairly). My simple summary of the American Revolution was a group of rich, white, slave owning, males didn't want to pay their taxes. It also depends on who you read, those who actively seek to justify their actions, or those who look at it was a relatively impartial view.
