A year ago, a nice young Aussie, a real estate guy, met with me to discuss business.

The subject turned to guns, I suppose because he noticed some 50 caliber rounds decorating the top of my book shelves. They're not live.

He said, some years ago, Australiaicon had forced the registration of all guns in private hands.

Then just a couple years ago, a nice policeman showed up at his door and demanded he turn over certain ones.

It was THE LAW, a new one just passed, and so he gave them up. They were then put through a shredder along with everyone else's that had been collected.

One of his guns taken had belonged to his grandfather and was a valued heirloom that meant a lot to him.

It didn't matter; it was confiscated and destroyed anyway.

If we don't stay on top of things, the same thing will happen here.

Louis of PA
