Help verifying markings on Canadian Snider carbine

I would like some help from Canadian Military Historians. I have attached photos of my DC (Dominion of Canadaicon) .577 Snider Carbine in the hope that someone can clarify the markings. I know that the carbines were primarily issued to Cavalry and Artillery units. I have searched online for pre WW1 Canadian regimental numbers but most info available is WW1. Does the A stamp stand for artillery or is it a Company or battery number? Likewise is the number 29 a trooper number, rack number or regimental number. Thanks
