Spent a good deal of time researching this one and the best fit seems to be Mexican although it is short at 277mm compared to the normal 387mm.

The birds head, the serial number placement and the circle z are all characteristics of the Mexican produced bayonets. My book shows it is used on both the full length and short rifles but does not say they were shortened for the long rifles.

If anyone can confirm one way or the other for a proper ID, I'd appreciate it.
