So I bought it. Couldn't resist adding such a unique looking rifle to my formerly Mauser-less collection. I don't know much about Mausers, but the more I researched the FR8, the more I had to have it.

Time for pics.

The stock has a few minor dings in it, but the bore is bright and shiny.

It came with the sling and cleaning kit, but no bayonet, so I picked up a bayo fairly locally, along with a battle pack of NATO ammo.

After I bought it, I noticed this bayonet sheath didn't come with those strings tied to the bottom like the ones I see for sale on gunbroker. What are those strings made of, and what is their purpose?
